PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface light source device and a liquid crystal display device capable of displaying a high quality image with a simple structure, when simultaneously using two types of light sources having different light emitting characteristics.SOLUTION: A surface light source device 200 includes: a laser light source 9; a laser light guide rod 7 for converting a laser beam L90 into first linear light; an LED light source 10; an LED light guide rod 8 for converting LED light L100 into second linear light extending in the same direction as the first linear light; a reflection bar 6 for reflecting the first linear light and the second linear light; and a light reflection part 5 formed in a box shape and having an opening 56 in which an emission side opens and a reflection surface 57 at the inside of the box shape. The first linear light and the second linear light are reflected at the reflection bar 6 and the reflection surface 57, and emitted from the opening 56.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
