LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE AND HEAD-UP DISPLAY USING IT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive small liquid crystal display device which does not reflect external light into only a certain direction, and to provide a head-up display using the device. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device is provided with: a liquid crystal cell 2; a frame body 3 that is formed of a resin covering the liquid crystal cell, having an opening 11 which faces the top face side of the liquid crystal cell 2 and having a picture frame-shaped member 12 formed around the opening 11; a frame 4 that is fixed to the frame body 3, having an opening 20 which faces the back face side of the liquid crystal cell 2 and supporting the liquid crystal cell 2; and a light source 6 that illuminates the liquid crystal cell 2 through the opening 20; wherein the surface of the picture frame-shaped member 12 of the frame body 3 is designed to diffusely reflect external light.
