PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal transfer sheet capable of preventing the generation of kicks and base stains while widening the width of the selection of color materials contained in a color material layer, also high in durability such as light resistance of the printed matter to be formed, further capable of preventing the lowering of the print density at the highlight part, and capable of forming a high quality picture-tone color image in a gradation image by sublimation transfer, a coating liquid for color material layer formation for forming the color material layer of the thermal transfer sheet, a method for producing the thermal transfer sheet, and an image forming method using the thermal transfer sheet.SOLUTION: In a thermal transfer sheet 1 in which at least a color material layer 3 is laminated on a base material sheet 2, into the color material layer 3, a prescribed solvent, a color material 10x dispersible into the prescribed solvent, a dispersant and a binder resin are incorporated, and, as the dispersant, one or more kinds selected from a polyether dispersant, a graft type polymer dispersant and an acrylic block type polymer dispersant are used. |
