PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To branch containers 2 carried in a row uniformly into two rows of discharge conveyors 8, 10 and, when one discharge conveyor 8 or 10 is full of containers, feed all containers 2 to the other discharge conveyor 10 or 8. SOLUTION: The containers 2 are moved to one side and carried by a carrying conveyor 6. A swing guide 42 installed on the side to which the containers 2 on the carrying conveyor 6 are moved is reciprocatingly swung to distribute the containers 2 over the entire surface of the carrying conveyor 6. The containers 2 are generally uniformly fed to two rows of discharge conveyors 8, 10. Alternatively, the swing guide 42 is retreated and moved without being engaged with the containers 2 or largely swung to move the containers 2 to the other side of the carrying conveyor 6 until they are fed to one of the discharge conveyors 8, 10.
