PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect a tightly closed state between a washing tub and a lid for tightly closing its opening part by devising how to apply a pressure to the washing tub. SOLUTION: This dishwasher includes: the washing tub having the opening part and storing tableware; the lid for tightly closing the opening part of the washing tub; a washing pump for pumping wash water to a rotating nozzle provided in the washing tub; a drying fan for sending air to the washing tub; an exhaust passage for communicating from the washing tub to the outside of the machine; a water feed solenoid valve for feeding water to the washing tub; a pressure sensor for detecting the pressure in the washing tub on the premise that the dishwasher has a level switch for detecting the water level inside the washing tub; and a tightly closed state detecting means for detecting the tightly closed state of the lid based on the pressure detected by the pressure sensor.
