<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an artificial turf surface simulating a clay court. <P>SOLUTION: A simulated clay tennis surface has a first region 18 tufted with synthetic ribbons 16a of first heights, and a second region 20 tufted with synthetic ribbons 16b higher than those of the first region.
