PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a fluorescent material which enables the reduction in unevenness in color of emission light between light-emitting devices, and enables the emission of green light allowing a light-emitting device to produce white light, and has a particular peak wavelength; and a light-emitting device arranged by use of such a fluorescent material.SOLUTION: A fluorescent material including at least silicon, oxygen and nitrogen, and activated by europium and arranged to emit green light on absorption of ultraviolet or blue light is expressed by the general formula, LSiMON:Eu. In the general formula, "L" represents at least one element selected from a group consisting of Mg, Ca, Sr and Ba, "M" represents at least one element selected from a group consisting of B, Al, Ga and In, and "x", "y", "z", "a" and "b" satisfy the following conditions: 1.5≤x≤2.5; 0.5≤y<1.5; 0<z≤2.5; 2.0≤a≤6.0; and b=(2/3)x+(4/3)y+z-(2/3)a. |
