<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lightweight high strength connecting rod in which the increase of the strength in a junction and the reduction in the deformation quantity upon the fracture of a big end part can be made consistent, and to which a fracture separation process can be applied, and to provide its production method. <P>SOLUTION: In the connecting rod provided with a big end part M, a small end part S and a junction I connecting them, a fracture scheduled part B in the big end part M composed of a steel comprising 0.2 to 0.5 mass% carbon is hardened, and the relation between the content of the carbon and the area ratio of martensite satisfies the inequality (1) of carbon content(mass%)×martensite area ratio(%)>10. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
