The present invention relates to a method for detecting a failure of an oxygen sensor in an engine. The method for detecting a failure of an oxygen sensor in an engine comprises: a step of detecting an outdoor temperature and comparing the detected outdoor temperature with a preset temperature; a step of calculating an actual air fuel ratio by extending detection time for calculating the actual air fuel ratio in the case that the detected outdoor temperature is lower than the set temperature; and a failure detecting step of determining whether the oxygen sensor fails or not on the basis of the calculated actual air fuel ratio, thereby preventing the incorrect sensing of the oxygen sensor due to the failure of the oxygen sensor under extremely low temperature driving environment. |
