METHOD FOR CONTROLLING THE GEARBOX OF A MOTOR VEHICLE

Various signals characterizing the real driving situation of a motor vehicle, especially the gradient of the road, are evaluated and control signals characterizing the real driving situation of a vehicle are produced in order to select the shift characteristics. A shift to a corresponding family of characteristics occurs according to the control signals. The gears are then automatically shifted according to the family of characteristics thus selected. The gradient of the road and vehicle load are characterized by separate control signals.
