<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an equalizer control apparatus and the like in which an error rate can be further reduced while taking into account optical signal reception level dependency of an amplifier after photoelectric conversion. <P>SOLUTION: A controller 9 is provided for setting a filter parameter value to an equalizer for performing waveform correction upon an electric signal resulting from converting an optical signal and comprises a reception level input means 91, a filter parameter value determining means 92 and a filter parameter value output means 93. The reception level input means 91 inputs a reception level of the optical signal. The filter parameter value determining means 92 determines a filter parameter value in accordance with the reception level input by the reception level input means 91.
