PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cryogenic container which is designed to achieve the uniform temperature of a heat shield without an increase in the weight of the heat shield, and has a cooling structure capable of being sealed up even for a relatively large container. SOLUTION: The cryogenic container has a liquid helium tank, a vacuum heat insulating tank to reduce the penetrating heat into the liquid helium tank, and a heat shield installed between the liquid helium tank and the vacuum heat insulating tank. The container has a refrigerating machine having a temperature stage of two or more stages, at least one temperature stage of which helium is recondensed, and at least another temperature stage of which a thermal load imposed on the heat shield is pumped up. Further, a cooling pipe to form a circulation path not communicating with normal temperature is installed so as not to be thermally contacted with the heat shield, and is filled with helium gas.
