摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow traveling with higher safety and reducing damage of a transmission by prohibiting shift operation to reverse travel until a vehicle speed slower than a conventional speed without increasing a manufacturing cost of a vehicle. SOLUTION: An automatic gearshift control device is for an automatic transmission comprising a clutch, a transmission having an input shaft, an output shaft, a plurality of forward gearshift stages with synchromesh mechanisms and a reverse gearshift stage with a reverse gear, an input shaft rotation speed sensor and a control means. The automatic gearshift control device comprises a temporary engagement means for performing temporary engagement in which the clutch is disengaged, the synchromesh mechanism of one of the forward gearshift stages is temporarily friction-engaged and the input shaft is driven from the output shaft when the reverse gearshift stage is chosen, and a reverse judgment means for prohibiting shift operation to the reverse gearshift stage when a vehicle speed calculated from a detection result of the input shaft rotation speed sensor exceeds a predetermined value at the time of the temporary engagement.
