PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a power-line communication device that additionally has a function for detecting abnormalities such as a short circuit, electrical leakage, and partial discharge that occur in a power line. SOLUTION: The power-line communication device uses a power line as a signal transmission path. The device is provided with a means, which detects changes in signal attenuation characteristics in a frequency band lower than a frequency band used as a communication signal, a means for detecting changes in common-mode current of the power line, or a means or the like, which detects changes in noise signal intensity, so as to have the function for detecting abnormalities in the power line.
