<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a time required for focus adjustment by obtaining a distance to a subject person on the basis of the face of the person detected from an image. <P>SOLUTION: The face of the person is detected from an image, and the distance to the subject person is calculated on the basis of the size of the detected face and a focal distance of a photographing lens. A depth-of-field is calculated on the basis of the calculated distance to the subject person, the focal distance of the photographing lens, and an aperture diameter; and the depth of the depth-of-field is determined. If it is determined that the depth-of-field is deep, photography is executed without any change. If it is determined that the depth-of-field is shallow, the aperture diameter is reduced to deepen the depth-of-field, and sensitivity of a CCD image sensor is improved to correct brightness of an image. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
