PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely prevent a paper discharge part from being clogged with labels. SOLUTION: This label feeder 2 feeds labels from a paper discharge part 13 to the outside of the label feeder by peeling the uppermost label one by one from a set label bundle H. The label feeder comprises a carrying means 22 for peeling labels and feeding them from the discharge part 13 to the outside of the label feeder, a control means 3 for controlling the driving of the carrying means 22, and a detection means 24 installed in the paper discharge part 13 and detecting the presence or absence of labels. When the detection means detects the presence of labels after the feeding of a label by the feeding means 22 is completed and when the feeding of the next label is started, the control means 3 prohibits the driving of the feeding means 22.
