A device control apparatus having a short-range wireless communication function, wherein it is possible to easily establish a communication path between the device in question and an external device using a configuration that has the short-range wireless communication function. A device control unit is provided with: a USB interface for connecting to a USB device; a tag-reading unit for reading an IC tag in which an external device address is recorded, the external device address being the address of a tablet terminal, and the IC tag being read using the short-range wireless communication; and a device control part in which the external device address read by the tag-reading unit is set as the transmission destination, the device control apparatus address that is the address of the apparatus itself is transmitted, and a communication path is established between the tablet terminal and the USB device if a request is received from the tablet terminal to establish the communication path between the apparatuses after the transmission of the device control apparatus address.
