PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage method of a head unit which can prevent ink from drying by keeping a nozzle sealed without breaking a nozzle meniscus, and a storage device. SOLUTION: A hollow needle-like member 94 is pushed in through a sealing member 50 retained in a lower case 60, and the head unit 9 is arranged in the lower case 60 so as to allow a nozzle surface 30a to come into contact with the sealing member 50, while an upper case 70 is joined to the lower case 60. In this case, a space 51 to be formed between the nozzle surface 30a and the sealing member 50 communicates with the open air passing through the interior of the needle-like member 94. Therefore, it is possible to prevent the internal pressure of the space 51 from soaring and thereby to check the breakdown of the nozzle meniscus. Besides, the blockage of a hole in the sealing member 50 is allowed to take place with the help of the elastic restoring force of the sealing member 50 itself by pulling out the needle-like member 94.
