The winder has a loading and/or press roller (5) pivoted in a cross-bar (10) that is held by swivel arms (6) for exerting surface pressure on a winding roller (3). The arms are connected with a force and/or position control system, where position of the loading and/or press roller opposite to the winding roller is adjusted by a damping device (11), which is provided opposite to the roller. The damping device is connected with its bearing in the cross-bar. An actuator e.g. hydraulic or pneumatic actuator, is provided in the damping device.
