摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface coated cemented carbide made cutting tool a hard coating layer of which displays excellent abrasion resistance in high speed cutting work of high hard steel. SOLUTION: This surface coated cemented carbide made cutting tool is constituted by forming (a) an under layer made of a composite nitride layer of Ti and Al having average layer thickness of 0.8 to 5μm and to satisfy a composition formula:(Ti1-XAlX)N wherein X is 0.45 to 0.75 in atomic ratio, (b) an upper layer made of a composite boride layer having average layer thickness of 0.8 to 5μm and to satisfy a composition formula:(W1-YZrY)B wherein Y is 0.10 to 0.40 in atomic ratio, and the hard coating layer constituted of the above (a) and (b) on a surface of cemented carbide base made of tungsten carbide group cemented carbide or titanium carbonitride cermet.
