PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material separation device and a material separation method which enable a continuous and rapid separation of materials contained in fluid in a dissolved, mixed or dispersed state by a temperature gradient, an electric potential gradient, a magnetic potential gradient, an acceleration, an ultrasonic vibration, a vibration asymmetric to time, an adsorption-desorption, a chemical affinity and the like as a driving force for separation. SOLUTION: The material separation device has a plurality of grooves approximately parallel with each other and slanting to the logitudinal direction of a separation flow path when viewed along the thickness direction formed on at least one side of an inner wall face in the thickness direction of the separation flow path having a thickness thin to the length and the width thereof, and provided with a fluid introducing opening at the upstream side of the separation flow path and two outlets at different positions in the width direction at the downstream side of the separation flow path.
