PRINTING SYSTEM AND PRINTING METHOD

A printing system and a printing method are provided to maximally utilize printing resources by maximally using the printing resources without wasting the printing resources. A host(100) is equipped with a plurality of encoders(107a-107d) for encoding printing data into a language interpretable in a printer(150) and encodes a printing job by using at least one encoder. The printer is equipped with the plurality of interpreters(115a-115d) respectively matched with the encoders of the host. The printer converters the encoded printing job received from the host into a printable form by using the interpreter matched with the encoder encoding the encoded printing job, and prints the converted printing job. The printer informs the host of unused interpreter information and the host determines the encoder to be used among the encoders based on the received unused interpreter information. The host encodes the printing job in a page unit by using the selected encoder.
