PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To securely perform skew correction in the whole region of document feeding in the case of application to a sheet-through method. SOLUTION: This automatic document feeder is provided as an automatic document feeding means of an image reading device 12, and feeds documents 1 set on a document placement table 2 to a document discharge table 14 via a document reading position within a document feeding path. To prevent the documents 1 from being obliquely fed, the documents 1 aligned by a document alignment member 26 at the time of staking of the documents 1 are fed while guided by an abutment member 24 provided opposing to the width in the feeding direction of the documents 1 within the document feeding path and a guide member 25 arranged in parallel with the abutment member 24.
