PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To block gas from entering from a board side faces in a liquid crystal display element using a board provided with a gas barrier layer on a flexible board support material such as a plastic film while preventing outward shape tolerance and assembly operability from degrading. SOLUTION: A gas barrier member 19 is charged in a gap that a polarizer 15 extending from the board provided with the gas barrier layer 18 on a board surface on the side of a liquid crystal layer 16. Consequently, the gas barrier member 18 whose thickness is equal to the extension amount of the polarizer 16 can secure sufficient airtightness. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
