The adjuster has a cylindrical actuator (3) arranged on a bearing section (4) of a camshaft (2) and comprising a ring body (5) with front faces (6, 7) that are covered with closure plates (8, 9). The plates are assembled in a radial direction of the camshaft, and limit the ring body in an axial direction of the camshaft. The plates are held in a position by placement of bolts at the body. The actuator has a rotor with rotor blades carried by a hub of the camshaft. An independent claim is also included for a method for assembly of an adjuster on a camshaft.
