PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device which is free from increase of noise, shortening of service life of a motor, demand of provision of an expensive motor, and decreasing of a printing speed, even if resolution in the sub-scanning direction is increased. SOLUTION: A printer 1 as the image forming device is equipped with a laser light emitting section 111 for emitting a laser light; a reflecting section 112 for reflecting the laser light to irradiate a target location of a photosensitive body; a reflection mirror oscillation section 116 for oscillating the reflecting section 112; a resolution changeover designation receiving section 113 for receiving a designation of a low resolution or a high resolution as the resolution of an image to be formed; and an irradiation control section 115 for emitting the laser light to one of an outgoing passage and an incoming passage in which the reflecting section 112 is oscillated by the reflection mirror oscillation section 116 when the designated resolution is determined to be the low designation, and emitting the laser light to both of the outgoing and incoming passages when the designated resolution is determined to be the high resolution.
