PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooking tool in which dirt formed by scorched foods and oil adhered to the cooking tool during cooking can be easily removed by just wiping with a wet cloth, and a method for manufacturing the cooking tool. SOLUTION: This cooking tool contains silicon (Si), zirconium (Zr), and oxygen (O) on at least a portion of the surface of a base body, wherein, when the amounts of silicon (Si) and zirconium (Zr) are calculated in terms of the contents of silicon oxide (SiO<SB>2</SB>) and zirconium oxide (ZrO<SB>2</SB>), respectively, the weight-based percentage of silicon oxide (SiO<SB>2</SB>) relative to the total amount of zirconium oxide (ZrO<SB>2</SB>) and silicon oxide (SiO<SB>2</SB>) is 1-40 wt.%, and a thin film having a thickness of 0.01-10μm is formed.
