PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus suppressing noise generation due to incidence of light on a transfer area of electrons. SOLUTION: The CMOS image sensor (imaging device) includes a photodiode unit 4 which generates electrons, a transfer gate electrode 8 which is adjacent to the photodiode unit 4 and generates an electric field for transferring electrons generated by the photodiode unit 4, and a multiplication gate electrode 9 which is provided on the opposite side from the photodiode unit 4 so as to straddle the transfer gate electrode 8 and generates an electric field for transferring electrons.
