PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To create a method and an apparatus capable of satisfying a requirement for a finishing treatment of a laundry article and capable of ironing economically without fault.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for ironing a laundry article, in which the laundry article is conveyed through an ironer gap between at least one ironer body and at least one ironer band 17 driven in a circumferential direction and is subjected to a wrinkle smoothing treatment at the same time. Ironer rollers 12 driven in a circumferential direction function as ironer bodies. At least one ironer roller 12 and at least one ironer band 17 are driven in a circumferential direction so that a relative movement between the at least one ironer roller 12 and at least one ironer band 17 is caused along the ironer gap.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
