A sliding element (20) comprises a first sliding element component (21) for sliding engagement with a rotatable component and a second sliding element component (22,23) for sliding engagement with a rotatable component. The first sliding element component is coupled to the second sliding element component by an adhesive (31). The adhesive is a flexible adhesive. A corresponding method of manufacturing the sliding element (20) comprising the steps of:- providing a first sliding element component (21) for supporting rotatable component; providing a second sliding element component (22,23) for supporting a rotatable component; applying a flexible adhesive (31) to the first sliding element component (21) and/or to the second sliding element component (22,23); bringing the first sliding element and the second sliding element component into engagement to form an assembly; allowing the flexible adhesive (31) to at least partially cure for a handling time so as to form a self-supporting sliding element or a flanged half-bearing or a flanged bush assembly.
