The present invention provides: a syndiotactic crystalline dicyclopentadiene ring-opening polymer hydride having a melting point of less than 280°C, a melt starting point of at least 260°C, and a syndiotacticity higher than 90%; a syndiotactic dicyclopentadiene ring-opening polymer having a syndiotacticity higher than 90%, a production method for syndiotactic dicyclopentadiene ring-opening polymers, having a step in which a specified polymerization catalyst is used and dicyclopentadiene is ring-opening polymerized; and a production method for syndiotactic crystalline dicyclopentadiene ring-opening polymer hydrides, having a step in which a syndiotactic dicyclopentadiene ring-opening polymer is provided to a hydrogenation reaction. As a result of this invention, a syndiotactic crystalline dicyclopentadiene ring-opening polymer hydride having a sufficiently high melt starting point and excellent thermal resistance and being useful for industrial production, a syndiotactic dicyclopentadiene ring-opening polymer having excellent solution stability after a polymerization reaction and being capable of transforming to a hydrogen compound as a result of the hydrogenation reaction, and an efficient production method for these are provided. |
