PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve communication quality between power line modems connected with a power line network composed of a plurality of low-tension distribution lines.SOLUTION: A remote meter reading system 1A comprises: low-tension distribution lines 6Aand 6Bextending from the secondary sides of transformers 5A and 5B; a bypass signal line 17 connecting between the low-tension distribution lines 6Aand 6B; a slave unit modem 8Bconnected with a first drop wire 10 leading the low-tension distribution line 6Ainto a user's house 9; a master unit modem 8A situated downstream of the first drop wire 10 and connected with a second drop wire 10 leading the low-tension distribution line 6Ainto the user's house 9; a slave unit modem 8B connected with a third drop wire 10 leading the low-tension distribution line 6Binto the user's house 9; and a signal adjuster 15 installed on the low-tension distribution line 6Abetween the connection point of the first drop wire 10 and the connection point of the second drop wire 10.
