The instant disclosure is directed to a method of inhibiting the deposition and/or crystallization of salt in an aqueous stream, including adding 0.1 to less than 200 ppm of a salt inhibitor to the aqueous stream comprising one or more salts in the solution to reduce the amount of salt deposition from the aqueous stream that would otherwise occur from the aqueous stream in the absence of the inhibitor, wherein cadmium chloride or lead nitrate or an at least partially water soluble compounds of formulaand mixtures thereof are used as the salt inhibitor, wherein X is oxygen and R, R, Rand Reach independently comprises hydrogen or an alkyl group comprising 1 to 20 carbon atoms. |
