A device for locking and unlocking a sliding door is provided to unlock and to lock a sliding door by moving a knob upward and downward. A device for locking and unlocking a sliding door comprises a housing(50) provided with a housing space(51) on the upper side and hanging projections(52a,52b) on the upper part of the housing space, a locker(54) installed to the center of the housing elastically by a coil spring(55) and projected or retreated to or from a hanging projection formed on a doorpost, a ratchet(57) installed right below the locker to be rotated, moved by the movement of a knob to retreat the locker and provided with a projection(57a), a movable piece(58) installed at the rear of the ratchet and provided with a driving gear(58a) and a cut-out part(58b), a driven piece(59) provided with a first gear(59a) engaged with a driving gear formed on the movable piece and a second gear(59b) formed adjacent to the first gear, a torsion spring(61) fitted to a projecting bar(60) installed to one side of the driven piece and supported to the driven piece and the housing, a slider(62) provided with a driven gear(62a) engaged with the second gear of the driven piece and guided to a guide pin(63) by the movement of the ratchet to reciprocate vertically, reciprocating pieces(64,65) fitted to bearings(68a,68b) installed to upper and lower parts of the slider to reciprocate vertically according to the vertical reciprocation of the slider, a closing plate(67) fixed to the housing to be located in the outside of the reciprocating piece to open and close an opening of the housing and provided with through holes(67a,67b) to make the bearings exposed to the outside, a striker(69) fixed to the upper and lower parts of the doorpost and suspended with the bearing to keep the sliding door locked, an actuating member(70) provided with an opening(70a) to insert the projection of the ratchet and a pair of hanging pieces(70b) to fix with a compression spring, and a cover(72) fixed to one side of the housing by a screw(73) to make an insertion hole(57c) of the ratchet exposed to the outside. |
