A slide assembly comprises a security device which only allows insertion of one slide member 14 into another slide member 12 if the two members are correctly aligned relative to one another. If the slide members 12,14 are not aligned correctly the security device blocks insertion of one slide 12 within the other 14. The slide assembly includes a first slide member 14, a second slide member 12, first and second stop members 44,46 and an elastic spring biasing member 48 connected to the stop members. The first slide member 14 has a guiding passage 30 into which the second slide 12 member may be received. The first and second stop members 44,46 are located within the guiding passage 30, with each stop member including an engaging portion 56,60 and stop portion 58,62. The stop portions contact against first and second stop walls 76,86 within the guiding passage. The first and second stop members are moved from the guiding passage 30 by the second slide member then it is properly inserted into the first slide member, thereby allowing full insertion of the second slide member [as shown in Fig. 6]. If incorrectly aligned and inserted, a side wall of the second slide member 14 abuts against one of the stop members [as shown in Fig. 8]. |
