PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a quartz glass cloth that enables heat deoiling at a comparatively low temperature and does not generates residual impurities having any adverse effect as a circuit board and to provide a quartz glass cloth.SOLUTION: The method for producing a quartz glass cloth includes steps of: producing a quartz glass cloth body using a sizing agent for a quartz glass fiber including starch and water; subjecting at least a part of the starch of the sizing agent in the quartz glass cloth body to nitric acid esterification to produce a nitric acid esterified quartz glass cloth body; and subjecting the nitric acid esterified quartz glass cloth body to heat cleaning.
