<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further simplify a postprocessing routine, by reducing the number of postprocessing patterns by easily designating a paper bundle postprocessing position by a user. <P>SOLUTION: The postprocessing side of a paper bundle is designated on the basis of a portrait image or a landscape image formed on paper by combination information of a distinction of the long side or the short side of the paper and a distinction of whether or not to be any side of the right, left, upper and lower sides of the paper, and a staple position of one end part on the designated postprocessing side is designated by combination information of a distinction of whether or not to be the right or the left side and distinction of the upper or lower side.
