PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide improved cell culture products and processes with reduced contaminants.SOLUTION: The invention relates to vaccine products for treating or preventing viral infections. Further provided are methods for reducing contaminants associated with the preparation of cell culture vaccines. Residual functional cell culture DNA is degraded by treatment with a DNA alkylating agent such as β-propiolactone (BPL) so as to provide a vaccine comprising immunogenic proteins derived from a virus propagated in cell culture, substantially free of residual functional cell culture DNA.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
