PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backpack which can reduce the up-and-down motion load placed on a human back unlike a conventional backpack which has little effect on reducing the up-and-down motion load on one's back accompanying the up-and-down motion of the backpack on one's back. SOLUTION: A mechanism incorporating a spring and a shock absorber is interposed between a backpack body and shoulder straps. When downward force is applied on the backpack body, the spring and the shock absorber are compressed and then slowly return to their original positions. Therefore, the weight smoothly follows the up-and-down motion by a carrier, which reduces the load of the pack on the human body. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
