A moving device of a pattern sewing machine is provided to reduce the contact resistance between upper and lower pressing plates and a table, by installing a right-left moving plate between the table and the upper and lower pressing plates. A right-left moving unit has a right-left moving bar moving in right and left directions along a moving section defined at the rear region of a table(2). A right-left moving plate(21) is disposed below an upper pressing plate(4) and a lower pressing plate(3). The right-left moving plate is connected to the right-left moving bar. The right-left moving plate has a size covering a moving section where the upper plate and the lower plate are moved in right and left directions.
