A reinforcing element (38) reinforces a front door pillar (10) in an area (56) where an energy-absorbing element/crash cap (28) fastens, and fits on the front door pillar in an area (42) where a bottom door hinge fastens. The reinforcing element extends downwards as far as a side sillboard (20) and links to it. It also extends over nearly the whole height of the fastening area where the energy-absorbing element/crash cap fastens. An upper limb on the reinforcing element runs at a slant to the energy-absorbing element in relation to the direction, in which the door pillar extends.
