A sounder 1 having a body 3 and a cover 5. The body defines a substantially sealed enclosure and the cover is arranged to surround at least part of the body. The cover has a surface against which or in proximity to which an insert may be arranged. At least a part of the surface is substantially transparent (fig.2 17) so that the insert is visible through the surface. The insert may comprise printed graphic elements. At least part of the insert may be transparent. The sounder may be illuminated by light source (fig.8 21) and a diffuser may be used to scatter the light over the insert. Various covers may be used which may be movable or detachable from the body. An actuator may be used to activate the alarm when the enclosure is opened. |
