The brake has a brake ring i.e. brake block, tensioned between outer and inner shells (2, 3). A locking element is provided between the inner and outer shells, is connected to one of the shells and generates positive- or frictional-connection with the respective other shell at a locked position. An actuating device (5c) is provided for eliminating the positive- or frictional-connection. The locking element is formed as a resilient or elastic element, and the inner- or outer shell is produced from a flexible material. An independent claim is also included for a method of adjusting a casing brake. |
