The invention forms part of a method and system for treating wastewater by means of a hydrodynamic and acoustic cavitation device (reactor). The advantages over the state-of-the-art reactors are that the invention has an improved performance upon including a hydrodynamic cavitation along with a sonic cavitation, the device producing the sonic cavitation by the reactor operation itself without ancillary equipment, with the possibility of controlling the frequency of the vibration that originates the sonic cavitation, for the different applications of the reactor. Structurally, this reactor comprises a carcass, which inner portion includes an stator partially surrounding a hollow rotor with an inlet at the front portion of the same, a plurality of orifices with a specific shape and size, which are radially arranged from the center portion to the periphery of the rotor, these orifices being embedded inside the body of the rotor; the stator also has a plurality of radial embedded orifices , with a geometry similar to that of the orifices of the rotor, having a size which facilitates, in a predetermined moment, that the outlet of the orifices of the rotor may be coincident with the inlet of the orifices of the stator. The outer circumference of the rotor is slightly smaller than the circumference of the stator, so that when the outlet of the orifices of the rotor is not coincident with the orifices of the stator, these will be obstructed in a sealing manner. |
