PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a slide member that is superior in wear resistance and has a surface film improved in toughness.SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a slide member 10 which has a base material 1, a ground layer 2 provided on the base material 1, and a wear-resistive film 3 provided on the ground layer 2, a thickness T1 of the wear-resistive film 3 and a thickness T2 of the ground layer 2 satisfying relation of expression 1, and a Young's modulus of the ground layer 2 satisfying relation of expression 2. Further, the slide member 10 is preferably such that the wear-resistive film 3 has a Young's modulus of 200 GPa or larger and a Vickers hardness of 800 HV(0.05) or larger, and the thickness of the wear-resistive film 3 is 0.5-40 μm.
