PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To implement a setting system capable of automatically perform setting according to a use environment. SOLUTION: The setting system includes multifunctional machines 10a to 10d capable of communication, a setting information providing server 20, and a telephone book server 30. When a user indicates automatic setting of himself or herself, each of multifunctional machines 10a to 10d transmits its own telephone number to a setting information providing server device 20. The setting information providing server device 20 uses the received telephone number to inquire of the telephone book server 30 and acquires affiliation information of each multifunctional machine. Thereafter, the setting information providing server device 20 specifies a use environment of each multifunctional machine by detecting a specific keyword included in the acquired affiliation information. Next, the setting information providing server device 20 specifies setting information corresponding to use environments and returns the setting information to respective multifunctional machines 10a to 10d.
