The method involves using a data base (DB) incorporating logical access segments (ACC) for each communication partner on the network. Each logical access segment stores an identification (ID) of the communication partner, as well as an connection overview (APV1,2) corresponding to the current connection (KA) of the communications partner. The connection overview comprises resource information (vpci, vci, tri, wi, qi) representing the physical resources (R) of the current connection of the communications partner, as well as switching information (s) representing his possible switching capabilities (sai, ui). The data base is pref. installed and maintained by the ATM communications network. |
