PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate stable write discharge without boosting scanning pulse voltage in a plasma display device. SOLUTION: The plasma display device includes a scanning electrode drive circuit which drives a scanning electrode by: dividing the scanning electrodes into a plurality of scanning electrode groups including a first scanning electrode group; and generating downward voltage having waveform different between the first scanning electrode group and a scanning electrode group other than the first scanning electrode group in an initializing period. The scanning electrode drive circuit has a shunt regulator 56 for generating a set voltage B used to set the lowest voltage for the downward voltage, and voltage generated by resistance-dividing the set voltage B is fed back to be applied to a reference terminal of the shunt regulator 56. The set voltage B is generated at a plurality of different voltage values by supplying an output current from a current generating circuit 82 between the resistors configuring a resistor divider.
