A hand held appliance such as a hair dryer comprises a body 30 having a duct (310, fig.11b). An outer wall (360, fig 11b) extends about the duct (310, fig.11b) and a side wall 350 extends between the duct (310, fig.11b) and the outer wall (360, fig.11b). A control switch 64a, 64b is provided on the side wall 350. The outer wall (360, fig.11b), side wall 350 and duct (310, fig.11b) are all external walls of the appliance. The body 30 has an inlet end and an outlet end and the side wall 350 is at the inlet end. The side wall 350 may at least partially define a fluid inlet into the fluid flow path (300, fig.11b). The duct (310, fig.11b) may be recessed within the outer wall (360, fig.11b) at the inlet end. A handle 20 may be provided and may have a second control switch 62a, 62b located thereon. |
