摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new aluminum alloy which has excellent castability and workability, and further has excellent mechanical strength. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The high strength aluminum alloy comprises, by mass, 3.5 to 7.5% Si, 0.45 to 0.8% Mg and 0.05 to 0.35% Cr, and the balance Al with inevitable impurities; wherein the whole is defined as 100 mass%. In addition to the incorporation of a suitable amount of Mg in a range which exerts no adverse influence on ductility, so as to increase strength, by incorporating Cr together with Mg, the strength of the aluminum alloy remarkably improves.
